Job Description

Are you a senior operations leader who can bring structure, discipline and clarity to a complex, multi-site healthcare environment?

Do you know how to translate strategy into practical operating models, systems, workflows, reporting rhythms and accountability structures that improve performance and support better care?

If so, this role at Mondia Health may be the right opportunity.

Why the role matters

Mondia Health is looking for a Group Head of Operations to help strengthen how the organisation operates at scale.

This is a senior group leadership role with direct influence on operational execution, performance visibility, consistency, risk management and decision-making across facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, Executive team and Facility Managers to strengthen the operating model, improve operational and financial discipline, and build the systems that allow excellent care to be delivered reliably across multiple sites.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating order in complex healthcare environments, improving how organisations work, and enabling leaders to make better decisions through clear processes, data, controls and accountability.

About the role

The Group Head of Operations will design, strengthen and embed the operating systems, structures, processes, reporting rhythms and performance controls that support Mondia Health’s multi-site mental health services.

The role is focused on improving operational consistency, strengthening accountability, improving financial and performance visibility, and supporting Facility Managers to lead with greater clarity and confidence.

This is both a leadership and enablement role. It requires someone who can operate at strategic level while remaining close enough to operational realities to understand what works in practice.

Reporting line

The role reports to the CEO and provides direct leadership, operational oversight and performance accountability for Facility Managers.

The Group Head of Operations will also work closely with the Executive team to align operational execution, financial discipline, governance, risk and performance improvement across the group.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Translating group strategy into practical operating models, workflows, standards, metrics and reporting structures across facilities and services.
  • Designing, improving, documenting and embedding operational policies, processes, controls and automated systems, while allowing appropriate flexibility for local facility realities.
  • Strengthening the link between operational activity, resource utilisation, financial outcomes, risk and performance reporting.
  • Developing KPIs, dashboards, reporting rhythms and executive-level insights that support timely decision-making and accountability.
  • Analysing quantitative and qualitative operational performance measures, identifying systemic issues, and leading sustainable improvements.
  • Supporting governance, compliance, risk management and audit readiness through stronger systems, visibility and follow-through.
  • Building managerial capability by helping Facility Managers solve operational challenges, embed consistent routines and strengthen accountability.
  • Creating a culture of continuous improvement, operational discipline and reliable execution across the group.

About you

We are looking for a structured, practical and accountable leader who brings calm execution to complex environments.

You understand that strong systems support good care. You are able to balance compassion, commercial awareness, operational discipline and quality outcomes. You are comfortable working with senior leaders, supporting managers, and staying connected to frontline realities.

You will be well suited to this role if you are:
  • Highly structured, analytical and execution-focused.
  • Comfortable creating clarity in complex or inconsistent environments.
  • Strong in operational systems, process design, controls, reporting and performance management.
  • Able to influence at senior level while building trust with operational teams.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and the role it plays in strengthening healthcare delivery.
  • Ethical, resilient and calm under pressure.
  • Aligned with Mondia Health’s values of safety, client-centredness, compassion, teamwork and continuous improvement towards excellence.
Education, experience and capability

The successful candidate will bring:
  • Significant senior leadership experience in a multi-site private healthcare environment.
  • Experience in mental health, rehabilitation, sub-acute care or other complex care services will be advantageous.
  • An NQF Level 8 qualification in Operations Management, Healthcare Management, Business Management, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience designing, improving, implementing and embedding operating models, systems, processes, controls and reporting structures across operations and support functions.
  • Advanced business process management and process architecture capability, including the ability to design, document, implement and continuously improve end-to-end workflows, controls and automated systems.
  • A strong understanding of the South African private healthcare environment, including operational delivery, funding, compliance, utilisation and performance management.
  • The ability to use budgets, dashboards, management reporting and operational data to support decision-making and improve performance.
  • The ability to translate operational, financial and qualitative insights into clear executive-level recommendations.
  • Proven ability to support managers through change by transferring practical operational knowledge, strengthening problem-solving capability and embedding sustainable performance routines.
The opportunity

This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in strengthening the operating backbone of a growing healthcare group.

The right person will help Mondia Health improve consistency, accountability and decision-making across facilities, while ensuring that operational systems support the delivery of safe, compassionate and high-quality care.
